The Memory Tree

A program of the Early Alzheimer's Foundation Inc, a Not-For-Profit, 501(c)iii organization

New York’s first program exclusively for people with mild  memory loss or early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.

OUR MISSION

A COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAM

Over a decade ago, we started The Memory Tree™, New York City’s only program solely dedicated to helping individuals with early Alzheimer’s disease.

While there have always been programs for people with advanced Alzheimer’s, those facing the early stages of the disease, and its accompanying challenges and disorientation, had few resources.  They (and their families) faced the dark future alone, feeling there was nothing to be done but wait for the inevitable.

Our first site in Harlem opened with little more than elbow grease and the firm commitment that this under-served and growing population needed help.

Today we have grown to four locations, each serving up to 20 participants, with weekly three hour sessions specifically designed to fight memory loss. In 2018 we provided 400 different classes and workshops.

We run our programs in the neighborhoods where people live.  This breaks down the barriers to participation that seniors,  particularly those with memory loss, face when the program is elsewhere.  Currently we have a program in Harlem, two on the West Side and one, at the 92nd Street Y, on the Upper East Side.
